One can talk about penthouse from the point of view of architecture, culturology and even philology. What is it then? Just a type of real estate or is there more to it?
There are many definitions of penthouse, each describing one particular feature, and all of them could be appropriate. Some say that penthouse is luxurious top floor apartment, others – that it has to be on the top floor of a skyscraper, some believe it is a mansion.
In US it is a single-use apartment block, located on the roof of a high-rise building. Expensive and well equipped.
In Russia it is the last storey with a view, fashionable residential area on the upper floors or a mansard. Ideally with glazed walls and panoramic views.
